USB users always have to look at their USBs to make sure they are putting in the right side that fits into the port. Some people have had to make at least one mistake in fixing their USB before finally getting it right.
News have reached us that USB 3.0 Promoter Group has announced its intention to make a new USB plug that can be reversible.
So irrespective of the way you hold your USB plug, you can plug it in to the port without caring to check the if its the right direction or not. The specifications for this new USB plug is meant to be completed by mid-2014, and by 2016 the USB plug should be available in the market. This new USB will be a supplement to the USB 3.1 specification.
The changes that will seen in the new USB plug includes;
- The new design will made to work well with emerging new designs.
- It will have a smaller size and may look similar to the existing micro USB 2.0.
- It will be reversible
- Scalability, the cable can be used optimally with any device i.e. it powers charging of devices like your mobile phones.
This is a good development, it will make life easier for users and it will also be more convenient for use.
