Application to receive recognition for innovations in Africa is now open for Africans. The IPA is responsible for spearheading this campaign.
Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA is a joint initiative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the African Innovation Foundation (AIF) started in 2011. IPA honours and encourages innovative achievements that contribute toward developing new products, increasing efficiency or saving cost in Africa. The prize also promotes among young African men and women the pursuit of science, technology and engineering careers and business applications. Specifically, the award targets technological breakthroughs in such main concern areas as manufacturing and service industry, health and well-being, agriculture and agribusiness, environment, energy and water and ICTs.
The Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) is a joint African Innovation Foundation (AIF)/UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) initiative that mobilizes African innovators and entrepreneurs who deliver market-oriented solutions that increase efficiency or costs-savings in Africa. Only innovations by Africans for Africans can apply.
The 2013 IPA prize will consist of three prizes: first prize $100, 000, runner-up prize $25,000 and special prize for social impact innovation $25,000 in the areas of:
· Agriculture and agribusiness
· Environment, energy and water
· Health and wellbeing
· ICT’s
· Manufacturing and service industry
