The HR department usually carry out regular performance appraisals with members of staff to make sure that they are performing as they should be, and that they are still enjoying their job and don’t have any issues.  This helps with the retention of staff as any issues can be identified and addressed as and when they come up.  During performance appraisals HR will work with employees to set realistic goals and targets to keep staff motivated and focussed.  This kind of performance appraisal system will also ensure that businesses are getting the best out of their employees which will have a positive impact on the success of the business.

Maintaining an effective HR department can save businesses a lot of money.  Recruitment of staff can be very costly, especially if the wrong people are hired and the process has to be undertaken several times before finding the right person.  An excellent HR department will have their recruitment process down to the tee, therefore saving your business time and money.  By keeping on top of each employee’s performance, offering them excellent training and regularly reviewing their work and setting targets, employees are able to reach their full potential and do the best that they can in their jobs.  This means a successful and more prosperous business.  Listening to employees and resolving their problems will help to maintain a first class working environment and mean that staff will want to stay at the company and that the business will earn themselves a great reputation.
