For the first time in history the shipments of tablets will surpass that of personal computers by the end of the fourth quarter of this year. IDC researcher reports that the shipment of tablet will hit 84.1 million, compared to 83.1 million of personal computers.
So many businesses still uses PC’s, they also make use of tablets to continue work that was started on the PC. The research group came up with some figures on the total market for internet based devices. The market for devices like laptops, smartphones and tablets will increase by 28 percent which totals to $622.4 billion in 2013 and $735 billion by the end of 2015.
it has been observed that the selling prices of these mobile devices will shrink to $323 by 2017 from $462 last year. This is due to the lower price models of these smartphones and tablets that are been manufacture.
The rise in mobile devices has caused a shift in creating new winners and losers in the technology world. The Apple Inc. (AAPL), Google Inc. (GOOG), and Samsung Electronics Inc. have gained a lot, while the Stalwarts of PC business like Helwett-Packard Co. (HPQ), Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) and Intel Corp. (INTC) have not had any increase sales, they remain stagnant.
